Gary Moore in his Empty Rooms… To live without love.

Empty Rooms is a track recorded for the first time by Gary Moore for his  fifth studio album ‘Victims of the Future’ released in December 1983.  It’s one of Moore’s biggest solo successes and one of his best love ballads.

The song was re-recorded and it was also included on his sixth studio album ‘Run for Cover‘ released on September 1985,  features Deep Purple’s former bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes.

Here below you can read the lyrics of this beautiful Gary’s song, watch some great live versions along the years, since 1984 to 2010, and hear both studio versions, of the 1983 and 1985 albums, and one long version released as single in UK on 1985 by Virgin label.

Enjoy…

Empty Rooms

(Written by Gary Moore and Neil Carter)

Loneliness is your only friend.
A broken heart that just won’t mend
is the price you pay.
It’s hard to take when love grows old.
The days are long and the nights turn cold
when it fades away.
You hope that she will change her mind,
but the days drift on and on.
You’ll never know the reason why she’s gone.
You see her face in every crowd.
You hear her voice, but you’re still proud,
so you turn away.
You tell yourself that you’ll be strong.
But your heart tells you,
this time you’re wrong.
You hope that she will change her mind,
but the days drift on and on.
You’ll never know the reason why she’s gone.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
All alone in an empty room.
Lonliness is your only friend, hooh.
Oh, she’s gone and you’re at the end.
